Borderless (28th)

Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre (AADT) is set to premiere "Borderless" at the Draylen Mason Music Studio at KMFA 89.5 Classical, with performances on June 28-29. This project, directed by AADT’s Founding Artistic Director Andrea Ariel, features a collaboration of diverse multicultural artists, blending dance, theater, and live music to create a "borderless" experience. The event explores human connections across ethnicities and cultures through stories and performances crafted by a variety of artists and their ensembles.

Key partners include Anuradha Naimpally (Austin Dance India), Luis Ordaz Gutiérrez (Proyecto Teatro), Sunny Shen (Shen Jun Movement Effect), Ciceley Fullylove, and musicians Frederico7, Claude McCan, Bruno Vinezof, Alán Uribe, and Rey Arteaga. The performances delve into themes of tradition, community, home, rebellion, and freedom, employing choreography and music developed collaboratively under Ariel's artistic direction.

Additionally, the performances will feature live composition using Soundpainting, a unique sign language for improvisational art, conducted by Andrea Ariel. This approach promises to add an element of spontaneity and excitement to the event. Andrea Ariel, a Certified Multidisciplinary Soundpainter, has been experimenting with this form since 1998, contributing to its development alongside creator Walter Thompson.
