The Kriya Yoga Teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda

“How Meditation Can Transform Your Life” — Free Lecture With Guided Meditation

Friday, September 12, 7:00 p.m.

Austin Meditation Group of Self-Realization Fellowship1820 Garden Street, Austin, Texas

This talk will include a guided meditation suitable for both newcomers and veteran meditators. “One of the twentieth century’s most remarkable spiritual figures — Paramahansa Yogananda — offers us a vision of world unity through yoga because it gives us the experience of a love that is divine — a love that transcends the limitations of all man-made boundaries,” says Brother Keshavananda. “Meditation connects us with our own divinity so we can express that divinity through our humanity. By using [Yogananda’s] teachings, each one of us has the potential to transcend both our self-limited thinking and these current times. We can all live a higher age life now.”

Paramahansa Yogananda (author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi) founded Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920, at the behest of his line of renowned gurus, to teach worldwide the science of Kriya Yoga meditation — which enables a seeker to experience the underlying oneness that unites all people, all religions, and all life. Yogananda taught that a foundation for truly balanced and successful living comes from realization of the Divine within oneself through meditation.

Your Speaker for This Event

Brother Keshavananda (whose name is derived from Keshava — a name of Lord Krishna, signifying destroyer of delusion — and ananda, meaning bliss) has been a monk of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) for more than 50 years. He is a minister at the Hollywood Temple in Los Angeles and has served in many capacities over the years including giving lectures on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda in cities throughout North and South America, Europe, and New Zealand. In addition to the free lecture and guided meditation, SRF monastics will be conducting a class on the SRF techniques of meditation. This class, held on Saturday, is open to students of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons, Paramahansa Yogananda’s home-study course on meditation and balanced living. If you are not a student of the SRF Lessons but wish to attend this class, you may do so by enrolling in the Lessons before or during the weekend program.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the meditations held throughout the weekend, as well as the inspirational talk on Sunday led by the monastics. Learn more about the full weekend program
