The satellite event of the 8th International Biennale of Non-Objective Arts titled Beyond…Au dela…, brings together an exciting and diverse group of contemporary artists whose practices span sculpture, origami, relief, painting, drawing, and printmaking. Opening on September 19th in artist studio (Duende the Studio), in New Delhi, this exhibition showcases work that pushes the boundaries of conventional art-making and redefines how we experience visual culture today.
Drawing from a range of cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds, these artists are united by a distinct visual language that embraces reduction, simplicity, and innovation. Their work reflects a growing global movement that challenges dominant narratives in the art world—using minimal means to communicate deeply resonant ideas and emotions.
Founded in Pont de Claix in 2011 by artist and curator Rolland Orepuk, the Biennale in its sixteenth year continues to collaborate through Satellite events around the world including cities like Paris, London, Athens, Warsaw, New Delhi, Dayton, Bangkok, Istanbul, Sydney, Melbourne and many more. Beyond Au..dela..in Grenoble, France is being curated by Tillman Hoepfl .
The New Delhi Satellite Event curated by Neerja Chandna Peters is the ‘first formal Indian contingent in the biennale’s sixteen year history’ says lead curator Satellite Events, Dr. Billy Gruner, West Projects.
The Satellite events are produced by various curators’ spaces as official participants via Foundation Roland Orepuk, France in association with global program for 2025.
“This exhibition speaks to the urgency of art in our time—not just as a mirror, but as a catalyst,” says Neerja Peters, curator of the exhibition. “These artists don’t just make objects—they make us question, reflect, and reimagine. Their use of non-traditional and reductive forms invites new ways of seeing and experiencing art beyond what’s familiar or expected.”
Featured artists include:
Ankon Mitra – a warrior for 'making connections across disciplines' with his brainchild - ‘Oritecture’ - known for exploring paper-folding traditions through origami and architecture
Neerja Chandna Peters – known for her meditative geometric abstract paintings and drawings
Satish Sharma – monochrome relief and sculptural works with unconventional materials such as cement, sand, lime, metal etc
Chetnaa – minimalistic drawing and spatial interventions using light and shadow as compositional tools
Neeraja Divate – Limited palette intricate drawing inspired by childhood observations of raindrops
Pranjit Sarma – experimental printmaking and new media techniques
Bikash Chandra Senapati – Intricate intaglio etching and drawing inspired by transience and nostalgia of rural-urban spaces
The exhibition emphasizes process, materiality, and experimentation. It resists rigid definitions, offering instead a contemplative, open-ended dialogue with viewers. In doing so, it echoes the spirit of historic art movements that reshaped the language of art—and continues that tradition in the context of today’s global concerns.
